In fact, I have read this book twice. Through the book King gives you an honest look to the inner workings of what made him, well, him.
He is very candid about his feelings, doubts, substance abuse, recovery, plus how he started writing from the first rejection letter to the first novel sold. His honesty is refreshing, not many people can talk about the good times and the bad while keeping the reader glued to the pages.
While I have no intention, currently, to write fiction his suggestions and guidance on what makes a good writer spoke to me. It was solid advice, good for anyone who wants to write on any level.
A lot of it I had thought of, some of it had not, but it all made me think about myself more seriously as a writer. Which, to be honest, can be a hard thought for anyone who wants to write.
You have to take yourself, and your craft, seriously before anyone else will! I would suggest it to anyone who enjoys reading memoirs or those who would like to write anything.
